Burnley College Head of Sports and Fitness, Ashley Alderson, has been shortlisted for an award to recognise his mission to empower individuals and communities through the transformative power of sport.
The Educate North Awards is a prestigious awarding body in the education sector, and Ashley’s shortlisting for the Leadership & Innovation Award celebrates his focus on driving positive change and fostering inclusivity.
Ashley said: “Burnley’s ranking as the 13th most deprived area in England is a stark reality, with one in five residents struggling to make ends meet. I firmly believe in the transformative power of physical and mental well-being for individuals of all ages and abilities. Each day, I inspire my dedicated team of 30 professionals to craft and deliver programs that benefit both the college and the wider community. I am honoured to be a genuine advocate for Burnley and the diverse communities we serve.”
Ashley continued: “Since my arrival at Burnley College nine years ago, I have wholeheartedly embraced the role of a passionate ambassador for sport. At that time, the college faced limitations in its sporting offerings. Through perseverance and dedication, we have implemented a wide array of impactful initiatives that have positively impacted individuals from various backgrounds and age groups within our community.”
As Ashley prepares for the Educate North Awards this evening, all staff and students at Burnley College wish him the best of luck for his efforts over the last 9 years since establishing Fitness Evolution.
